The system can be expanded in the future by taking advantage of added functionality while utilizing COBOL assets and COBOL programmer skills.
Hitachi COBOL 2002 provides functions to link COBOL programs with the latest Web technologies, such as Java and XML. Java integration supports the linking of COBOL programs with Web systems written in Java, allowing the use of existing COBOL assets with a proven track record or new systems developed in COBOL for the business system portion of a Web application. It also allows XML data to be input, output and handled as COBOL records.
Hitachi COBOL2002 provides various functions to support development operations, such as a compile list, test debugger, and abnormal termination summary information list. The compile list displays input source and cross-reference information and compile-time error messages. The test debugger can assign and display data while controlling program execution. The abnormal termination summary information list displays information to determine the cause of abnormal program termination.
