Streamline secrets management with Red Hat and HashiCorp

HashiCorp Vault provides a centralized platform for storing, accessing, and distributing sensitive information and works with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform by providing secrets for automating your infrastructure and secrets management.

Overview

IT credentials, such as passwords, application programming interface (API) keys, and configuration files, are valuable to your organization and must be protected. How you manage these secrets affects not only the security of your data and systems, but also the efficiency of your operations. Without good secrets management, you can end up with security islands—small groups with specialized access—or access so broad you introduce unnecessary risks. In complex environments, you could also end up with inefficient systems that require large amounts of manual work to authenticate legitimate users.

Secrets management tools keep sensitive information confidential and up-to-date, while making controlled resources available to the people and systems that need them, including as a part of DevSecOps workflows. By integrating a centralized secrets management tool with an IT automation platform, you can provide access to the sensitive resources, while reducing the risks of exposed credentials and compromised accounts.

HashiCorp Vault provides identity-based security and centralized secrets management. Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform can deploy Vault agents, and then leverage Vault to manage credentials and certificates for various IT domains, including cloud, virtualization, network, and operating systems for access. This integration supports security-focused and compliant automation by providing dynamic, time-limited credentials and a single source of truth for secrets.

Bring automation and identity-based security management together to help your organization be more secure and compliant.

Automated secrets management

Ensure compliance is consistent across all your hybrid cloud infrastructure by integrating HashiCorp Vault with Ansible Automation Platform. Securely manage systems access with SSH keys, certificates, secrets and tokens. Use credentials stored in HashiCorp Vault to allow Ansible Automation Platform to access and automate systems.

Simplified authentication and authorization

Using Ansible Automation Platform as an identity provider for Vault authentication allows Ansible to be your source of access, reducing the need to use multiple sets of credentials. You can also strengthen security with secrets rotation and time-limited credentials.

Centralized access to credentials in hybrid environments

Manage secrets for automating cloud services, virtual machines, networks, databases and more across hybrid, multi-cloud, on-premises, and edge infrastructure in a single place.

Security-focused automation that scales across platforms

Integrating HashiCorp Vault with Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat OpenShift centralizes secrets management and enables time-bound access to credentials. This reduces risk and supports compliance across environments, including across containerized application deployments.
