The HPE 5G Core Authentication Server Function provides the following capabilities: * Authenticates the UE for the requester Network Function (NF) * Provides keying material for the requester Network Function (NF) The authenticate service operation allows the requester NF to initiate the authentication of the UE by providing the UE ID and the Serving Network Name.

- Microservices for UE Authentication
- HPE 5G Core AUSF contains two microservices. As a service producer, each microservice provides a secure HTTP2 REST service-based interface for other network functions and applications to consume the services offered, using secure HTTP2 REST service-based interfaces. These microservices can be deployed as a set of services in a Kubernetes based container management environment and run in stateless mode, offloading storage of all information externally in 5G UDR and UDSF. It offers authentication services to AMF, via the Nausf interface.
