Jio Platforms - Cloud Native 5G Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) of 5G SA Core
The JPL NWDAF represents an operator-managed network analytics logical function. It can provide slice-specific network data analytics and network load information to any network function. In addition to standards-compliant features, the solution provides highly optimized and automated operational procedures. With its virtualized and cloud-native architecture, it significantly reduces deployment time and maintenance costs.
This service allows any network function to subscriber and unsubscribe to different types of events. JPL NWDAF notifies the appropriate network functions about the observed events. These events are related to the load level of the network slice instances, service experience, load analytics, load performance, abnormal behavior information, mobility or communications-related information for an individual or group of UEs, and location-specific congestion information. JPL NWDAF is designed to ensure that additional events can be quickly added using an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI).
This service provides an interface to retrieve analytics information for different analytic events to any network function. The analytics could be around behavior or load on a specific network function. This can help network functions during selection of the peer node instances.
The JPL NWDAF provides information related to assignment of network resources, traffic steering, and background data transfer to PCF. It provides network load information for slice selection to NSSF. It also provides SMF/UPF load information to AMF/SMF reflectively for peer selection.
HTTP/2 interface with NSSF supports relaying analytics and network load information to NSSF as well as PCF to enable better policy decisions.
The JPL NWDAF interacts with NRF for registration and de-registration; fetching access token; access token validation; subscribing, unsubscribing and deleting subscriptions; NRF discovery; and more.
During any kind of breach, a notification is sent to the subscribed entities along with authority header handling with NRF so that only valid requests are exchanged between the NF and NWDAF.
