Micron’s CZ122 memory expansion module delivers performance for next generation data center applications. As AI proliferates in the enterprise and cloud, there is a growing need for more compute performance. This is driving higher core count growth across heterogenous compute architecture, necessitating higher memory capacity and bandwidth. Micron’s CZ122 memory expansion module using Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) increases system capacity and memory bandwidth needed for evolving enterprise and cloud workloads. CZ122 is a CXL type 3 memory module that supports the CXL 2.0 specification. Available as an E3.S form factor, CZ122 comes in two capacities: 128GB and 256GB. Based on DDR4, CZ122 has a dual-channel architecture, which enables higher performance. With DDR4 DRAM, the CZ122 provides optimal price/performance using the PCIe Gen5 x8 interface. Cloud and enterprise applications that can take advantage of CZ122 are hypervisors, containers, databases (key value, SQL and in-memory) and data warehouses. As a result, OEMs can build single-socket systems with 384GB to 1.5TB of Micron DDR5 system capacity and 384GB to 2TB of CXL capacity (available in 2023).
